Lift Off... is the first in a series of beat tapes / EPs by multi-instrumentalist and producer Astro-Fi, featuring songs created over the last four years. The three songs is a great introduction to Astro-Fi's sonic style - blending live instrumentation with sequenced beats, prioritizing the human touch over rigid quantization, paying homage to various influences yet not conforming to any single established genre.

The music reflects influences absorbed through upbringing in Tokyo and New York, a stint in Southern California, and a recording studio career in New York City, mashed into a unique style with elements of Soul, Jazz, Hip Hop, Funk, R&B, Reggae, Latin beats, and Electronic music.

Astro-Fi plays guitar, bass, drum pads, keyboards, and percussion, and writes mainly on Avid Pro Tools and Reason Studios Reason.
